Norma Halmagyi
Hanson received an A B from Randolph Macon Woman's College; and
an MS from the University of Virginia in microbiology in 1961.
She was a research associate in microbiology at the University
of Virginia. She married and moved to Delaware where she worked
at Dupont in Biochemistry. She had four children and raised them
before returning to work. She
taught microbiology, anatomy and physiology at Lenoir Community
College in Kinston NC.
She moved back to Delaware and married Stephen Hanson. She was the Farm Manager in Hockessin Delaware at the Delaware Nature Center and managed school tours and classes at the farm there.
She received a M. Div from Lancaster Theological Seminary, and a year of Episcopal studies at Virginia Theological Seminary. She served as a hospital chaplain for 5 years in Christiana Hospital in Delaware and then became rector of Christ Church Delaware City where she remained for 7 years. She got her D Min. from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.
When her husband became ill, they moved to Asheville NC. She did 14 months of supply work at St Andrews Bessemer City while caring for her husband. She became vicar at Church of the Transfiguration in Saluda for two years.
Her husband died in 2010. She then came to St Francis in Cherokee.
