Here is a summary of the programs we have in place for Western North Carolina:
Conflict Resolution Curricula -- A variety of conflict resolution programs have been implemented in local schools. In the past we have taught the TRIBE curriculum, explained the "Talk It Out" method of negotiation, allowed students to practice conflict resolution skills on a ropes course, and presented programs for entire schools on conflict resolution.
Peer Mediation -- Students have been trained to act as peer mediators for disputes that happen within their school. This gives students, teachers, and administrators one more option for settling disputes within the academic environment.
Employee Mediation -- Our office offers mediation for issues between employees, or between parents and the school system.
Truancy Mediation -- These mediations allow parents, students, and a school representative to meet in order to address issues causing school absences in the hope of increasing school attendance and decreasing court activity for truancy cases.
Special Education -- Some of our mediators have been trained with the needs of special education in mind.
