  What is
Mediation?

Help your people gain conflict resolution and communication skills!

Mountain Mediation Services can train your organization in mediation, conflict resolution, and facilitation--necessary skills in today's hectic workplace environment.  We can work closely with you to create just the right training session(s) that match your needs and focus.  An initial consultation is available at no charge.

Staff or department focused training includes mediation as a pre- or post-grievance filing, and conflict resolution skills to use with specific client groups and other staff.  Both of these models use the "train-the-trainer" approach and include hands-on practice and communication activities.

Client focused training includes communication skills for the workplace and communication tools for parents and teenagers.

Training length and design are based on the specific needs of your organization.  Work with us to create the perfect training package for your employees or group members!

"I have spent a lifetime being emotionally 'beat up' by conflict.  I attended the Basic Community Mediation Training because I wanted to diffuse my conflict phobia and because one aspect of my job is dealing with calls from the angriest of our guests.  Historically, I have handled these conflicts and reacted to them on a very personal level with corresponding physical responses...Within two days of completing the training... I was asked to take a phone call from an angry customer.  As I felt my adrenaline kicking in, I thought of the mediation training, and consciously pulled the mediation 'armor' around me.  Using the skills I learned in the training, I was able to validate [the customer's] emotional response without feeling personally involved.  When I hung up the phone, instead of feeling beat up I felt invigorated at what I felt was a successful diffusion of conflict."

MMS training participant, 1996.
